The Smithsonian Folklife Festival is an international exposition of living cultural heritage produced every summer on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The 2014 festival dates are June 25–June 29 and July 2–July 6.

This year’s China program is teaming up with the 1882 Project, an organization raising awareness of the Chinese Exclusion Laws and their impact on American Civil Rights legislation. Their collaboration will be featured on Diaspora Day, June 29th, with a session exploring China Town as a real, symbolic, and historical space.
